The Oasis!

This was our hangout in Langkawi. It's called the Oasis and it is THE PERFECT bar right by the beach. Great music, great view, and great food. I had the best hamburger here that I have had since having a good In & Out burger in California. It was just soooo tasty. :-) We also celebrated New Years Eve here and had a great all you can eat BBQ with lots of tasty dishes. 

Happy New Year from beautiful Langkawi

We had a great time in Langkawi! It was a great place to head for New Years. Now that I am back, I will have to start putting more pictures up again. More are on their way. 

One of the best parts of Asia is the food!

I love the food here! It is amazing! This is half of the food we got in Phuket when we had a 7 course meal and a bottle of wine for $50. Not a bad deal. Then again, most dinners cost less than $5 but once in a while you just gotta treat yourself to something special. 

Lake Gardens the oasis in KL

This is where I love to go on the weekend. Lake Gardens is a nice park in the middle of KL and surprisingly there is hardly anyone there. However, when you go into the trees you notice that there are a million mosquitos waiting to suck your blood. It does not come close to the picnics and walks in Santa Cruz, that I miss a lot, but at least it is a great way to get closer to a little bit of nature.

Beer coolers, what a genius invention!

I have to admit I was quite excited to see that they have beer coolers! Why did I never think of this. What a simple but excellent invention. It certainly improved our time at the beach. ;) 

Chicken rice - lunch for $0.75! Sweet

This is a great pic of my healthy and nutritous diet! Chicken rice is the poor man's food in Malaysia and since we are just getting started, this is what we are eating lots of times for lunch. It is also rather tasty. Lets just hope these chickens are well cooked or I might catch myself a little avian flu. ;)

After a nice day on the beach, we enjoyed the scenic drive back from Surin beach. 

Surin Beach - Surfers Paradise!

This is Surin beach in Phuket! It is gorgeous! There is no big hotels right by the beach and it feels a lot less touristy than most beaches in Phuket. Even better, Surin is a surfers paradise. The waves break beautifully and are just the right size for beginners and intermediate surfers. Unfortunately, there we no surfboards for rent that day. 

Phuket was amazing!

I just got back from Phuket and it was great! I went surfing for the first time and we had a blast! Now I know why Jon has been egging me on to try surfing for so many years. I love it and hope Jon opens up a surf shop on Surin beach and gets me a new board for christmas!

While surfing was fun, having Michelle along on the trip was definitely the highlight! Here is a great new pic of our favorite beach. It is called Surin beach and has amazing waves. Unfortunately, it has no surfboards since the surfshop got destroyed during the Tsunami. Next time will have to bring our own boards.

KL is not a city for drunk people

That's right, there is ditches all over the place in KL so if you are wasted and we frequently are you have to watch out! Never let your guard down, at least if you are keen on walking home. Otherwise, if you are taking a taxi, then you can keep drinking all night long. :-)

This is a crazy shot they serve out here in KL. It is 4 shots that you have to drink all at once while the drink is on fire. FUN!

My first taste of frog legs. Hmm... actually very tasty. A great cross between sea food and chicken. What is next? Perhaps fish eyeballs but then again that might have to wait for a litte while.

Of course we had to enjoy a cigar while listening to great cuban music. :-)

Buena Vista Social Club performed live in KL. What a great show!

The streets of Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, this is still a developing city so seeing lots of trash piled up everywhere is not that uncommon. :-(

Redang Reef Resort. This is where we stayed.

Redang was amazing. One of the most beautiful paradise islands I have been to in a long time. The snorkling was excellent too!

This is an iceskating ring inside a mall! It is very popular since there is no ice anywhere to be found. Funny thing is everyone has to wear gloves for safety.

Movie night at Mike's! My place is quickly becoming popular and the place to watch movies. Makes sense when a fake DVD only costs $2.50 and my screen is huge. These are all other AIESEC trainees in the picture.

A picture of Bangsar at night. I live close by. In Bangsar, there is always lots of action. KL is quite the party city! :-)

This is the building where we work in. We just have an office upstairs. The building belong's to Vishen's dad's business.

One more fun pic then I have to go to bed. This is just a picture I took form the car while driving by the KL towers at night. It always looks amazing, even thought the pic is not all that good.

Here is a really funny story from lunch today. The MindValley team had lunch in a Chinese restaurant. On the receipts they described us with hillarious names (in Chinese writing but we had one chinese guy with us).

My first weekend here we went wakeboarding. It was my first time! It is a lot of fun and very similar to snowboarding. I did jumps and 180s on my first day! Pretty sweet. I will have to come back and do this some more, especially since there will be no snowboarding here this winter.

here is a pic of my sweet new home theater! That is right, I have a projector and the image is HUGE and super clear. The pic is not excellent but not bad for a camera phone either. All my pics I am taking via my new camera phone. The Sony w750i. It has a 2 Meg pics camera. Pretty sweet. If I get a PlayStation now I never have to leave my place. :-)
